This position will fill the role of Web Designer for a highly visible e-commerce site in the casual gaming space with high volume functioning as a member of a multibrand strategy. The ideal candidate will be well rounded and possess a broad range of graphic design and front-end web development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash) and be able function well in a small and agile marketing team. The key to this position is flexibility and willingness to take an active voice in developing a brand and valuable customer experience while maintaining the daily design activities of a website (creating weekly promotional graphics, managing a newsletter, creating flash animations for game promos and site promotions on other sites, creating landing pages, and maintaining customer facing web properties and creating new features).

Our web team is a small and very collaborative group with a focus on marketing initiatives rather than a sheltered dev environment. The web designer, web developer, and marketing manager work together to create site promotions and initiatives in all phases of conception and development. (demographic, usability, messaging, reach, brand, and analysis)

The ideal candidate will be a motivated self starter that can work independently and self manage within the scope of their position while collaborating for direction and decision making.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: % of Time

1. Hand coding HTML and CSS for landing pages and website design. – 30%
2. Creating compelling promotional graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator. – 30%
3. Contribute aggressively to a small creative team and work independently. – 15%
4. Creating support material for websites and marketing campaigns. – 10%
5. Creating and managing newsletter design and campaigns. – 10%
6. ActionScript, JavaScript, and timeline flash animation. – 5%

Non-Essential Functions:

• CSS based interaction effects coding and DOM scripting
• Synthesizing diverse input (marketing, developers, customer service, usability studies, competitive analysis, advertising) into a cohesive design and practice while maintaining design integrity.
• Creating documentation (specs, overviews, etc.) and presenting those to support teams.
• Interest in creating messaging for site promotions and initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum: Hand coded CSS and HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator, newsletter design, branding

Preferred: JavaScript, Flash, ActionScript, DOM scripting, writing documentation, writing messaging.

Education, Certification, and/or Training: College degree in art/design, web design, web development, or equivalent experience in the industry

Experience: Experience designing and hand coding websites required. A portfolio of design work is required.
