Hi, we're Storenvy, a new social shopping community. We're on a mission to make selling stuff online easy and free and we'd like your help. We're looking for an awe-inspiring user interface designer and front-end coder (that's you, sailor). You will be responsible for the look and feel of Storenvy. You can make it look however you want so long as the rest of us are happy. You should be a versatile designer and have experience designing for shopping and social interaction (or at least other mind-blowing stuff). The ability to walk through walls is also a plus.
What We're Looking For
- Insane UI & graphic design skills
- Front-end coding skills (HTML, CSS, Javascript -- If you suck at these, we can see about outsourcing them or something.)
- A visual design style in the mode of Threadless + Etsy + Digg + Virb + your own secret sauce
- Opinions about design and how things should work
- The ability to eat your own weight in bacon
- Some Ruby on Rails experience (hopefully)
- Relationships/experience in the startup world
- A delicious oatmeal raisin cookie recipe
You'll get to do these fun things
- Redefine "social shopping".
- Design storefront themes
- Design Mobile and iPhone/iPad versions of Storenvy
- Learn to ride a unicycle
- Improve our Facebook app(s)
- Solve interesting problems
- Help plan the overall Storenvy strategy
- Connect with our users through social media, conferences, etc.
Why you should blow off your current gig and work with us
- It's a fun job with a ton of flexibility
- An extremely ambitious team that still manages to have a good time
- You get to express your personality through your work
- Daily high fives
- Full-time and starting soon
- Salaried with ownership opportunity
- Work for a company targeting a bajillion dollar market
- Work on something that matters and that people love
- Open to remote workers, but will eventually need to relocate to San Francisco or Austin
Boring stuff the CEO wrote about Storenvy
Storenvy is re-inventing the way people sell stuff online. Instead of setting up standalone storefronts like the other guys, Storenvy lets people open a highly-customizable online store and still take part in a social marketplace. All for free. People love it. And with our Facebook app, merchants can add their stuff to the largest social network in the world.
Launched to the public in November 2009, Storenvy has 1,200 merchants and 12,000 products for sale. Storenvy has built a recognizable name in many circles by sponsoring events and connecting with crafters, bands, clothing companies, and other startups.
We've got some really interesting new stuff we're working on. We are about to take a big leap forward as a powerful, disruptive shopping destination. We've got good relationships with other startups and with potential investors. Our advisors include the CEO and founder of Gowalla, Josh Williams, and the founder of Grasshopper and Chargify, David Hauser. We were admitted to Y Combinator this summer, but a few issues prevented us from participating and there is a very good possibility of participating in the Winter YC session.
Co-founder?
This position could also turn into a co-founder position for the right person. (Whoa!)
